The Panthers won the inaugural Sunday Smash competition, beating Knowle & Dorridge at Edgbaston today.
Stratford scored 124 runs off their 100 balls, led by Dexter Purser’s 57 (44 balls, 6 fours, 2 sixes). They then reduced K&D to 10-3 before Tom Smith started to turn the game in the chaser’s favour – that was until a stunning boundary catch from Jack Grundy sent Smith back for 47.
The Panthers closed out a 14 run win and lifted the trophy in front of the club members, friends and family who made the trip with them to Birmingham.
“The fact we went to the home of county cricket and won a cup final will give us something to build on. There’s a great atmosphere around the club with lots of local lads whose parents are also involved”Martin Beese, Head Coach
