Stratford’s Under 15s continued their unbeaten run with an emphatic win at Aston Manor on Sunday, the home side fielding just 9 men. Batting first, the Stratford innings was built around a fine partnership from Matthew Rickett and Henry Hopkins. Both took advantage of a fast outfield to notch up 18 boundaries between them, interspersed with well-taken runs. Hopkins was finally run out on 58, while Rickett retired on 75. Thereafter a number of cameos from the supporting cast, plus a generous helping of extras, took Stratford’s final score to 218 for 5.

Although the flame of a fightback flickered briefly at the start of Aston Manor’s reply, with Tom Clarke hitting 5 boundaries in the second over, Stratford’s bowlers quickly doused their hopes. When Joe Element winkled Clarke out for 39 in the 10th over, the die was cast, and the wickets fell to a steady beat from then on, Ollie Whitby taking 2 courtesy of fine catches from Billy Dingley and Seb May, Marcus Farthing taking 3, including 2 stumpings by Rickett, while Jake Greaves and Billy Dingley brought proceedings to a close, the latter with a catch off his own bowling. Aston Manor were all out for 91 runs, and Stratford won by 127 runs with four overs to spare.
